Clyde

For years April gained followers with click bait videos of Clyde walking “clydewayze” and promoting mottos like “different is beautiful” in her miserable attempt at creating an inclusive, compassionate online community. She exploited this animal… an innocent, loving being with cerebral hypoplasia. She used him and then threw him away when he was no longer of value to her.

He was removed from April’s house with a body score 2 of 9. Upon intake, AHS had to shave him because his rear was so caked with dried feces that he literally couldn’t even poop on his own. He suffers from night terrors and anxiety which he takes a sedative at night to help with. He had to be hospitalized overnight and had to undergo a plasma transfusion. He had an abdominal ultrasound, which showed a little bit of fluid in the abdomen. Clyde is doing good now, but he is still struggling with gastric upset and the team at Be Like Josh Foundation are working around the clock to manage it. They have looped in a holistic veterinarian and are providing additional supplementation as well as a diet change to help his body heal.

*Update, On January 3, Clyde turned six years old!!

Clyde continues to heal and improve every day. His night terrors have been greatly reduced and some nights he doesn’t have any at all. His facial edema has gone down. 75% of his 💩 are solid and normal, but it will still take months to completely heal his gut and microbiome. Overall, Clyde continues to make slow but steady progress and it gives us hope.

Jerry & Checo

Temporary placement with Joshthedoodle before going to Handover Rover in Phoenix, Arizona.

Squiggy

Squiggy is a Belgian Tervuren, he is a tripod and was one of the remaining 13 dogs that have been in custody since September 22, 2023. He was released on 01/11/2024 to Joshthedoodle & BeLikeJosh Foundation for decompressing here locally and then they would transport him to Los Angeles, CA in a few days to be with The Animal Rescue Mission.

*Update, Squiggy tore his cruciate ligament the day after being released and needs surgery. The Doctor also found that Squiggy has an umbilical hernia and that will be repaired during surgery also. It is in Squiggy’s best interest to stay with Kim in AZ for surgery with Dr Colton at the ArizonaAnimalWellnessCenter in Gilbert, AZ. Surgery is already scheduled and funds have been raised to cover it. Squiggy is now being fostered by JoshTheDoodle in Phoenix, AZ.

Buck (RIP)

Had blood in his stool. Meds and medical notes check: There was nothing about Parvo, but Giardia was noted. He was on Panacur and Metronidazole. He was also on Fluconazole which is prescribed for fungal in the stomach or lungs or brain, his diagnosis was Valley Fever. He also had muscle atrophy in his hind leg that was so severe that the recommendation was amputation. Buck died in his sleep at a close friend's house of Jill from Bellavita. She found him in his bed at 3am with foul poop seeping out of his parts. They were both devastated by this loss after shortly getting him back to California after being released from the AZ Humane Society.

Pierre

Pierre had some stomach issues, double ear infections, a very light positive for Giardia and a little eye discharge from his flat eye when coming out of the House of Horrors and AHS. However, he is acclimating well being back with the Bellavita pack and his foster.

Gilbert, Arizona IG Bryce IG

If you have not heard the story of Monica and her son Bryce, It's one of true compassion. Bryce could not stand by idly as dogs were suffering at the hands of April McLaughlin. He took it upon himself to hop the wall and attempted to rescue one of the dogs from her backyard during the time where cries for help to the proper authorities was seeming to fall on deaf ears. He unfortunately was unsuccessful in his attempt because authorities arrived at the scene and arrested him for trespassing. He understood that was a risk and he was willing to take it because even if he was unsuccessful in removing a dog, the authorities were now forced to see what needed to be seen in order for further investigation and serious action to be taken against April. All though we do not condone breaking of the law, this young man played a crucial role in perpetuating the events that ensued. He appeared for court and proudly accepted the consequences of his actions. He has been deemed a hero in the animal rescue community and if you'd love to show your support, please visit their rescue, Freedom Frenchie Rescue.

Jolene

Furgiven is thrilled to announce that Jolene from the AZ #chandler55 will be coming to join the Furgiven Pack.

From our understanding, her mobility is very limited. She is unable to stand independently for prolonged periods, has a head tilt, circles, abnormal reflexes, abnormal bloodwork and has required multiple medications while in the care of Arizona Humane Society. One of the primary concerns that has been brought up, is a chronic ear infection that could be contributing to the vestibular symptoms we are seeing in her.

We knew that Jolene had previously been shaken by a dog and the suspicion was a resulting brain injury. The MRI confirmed an old hematoma in the right side of her brain stem, which affects the left side of her body.

This means that Jolene’s current baseline is suspected to stay stable long term, which is fantastic news! She is happy, healthy, and absolutely loves life.

*Update, Jolene has been adopted!

Marbles (RIP)

Originally was pulled by Koco from a bad situation on a property in Mississippi where the woman there had gotten in over head and had 92 dogs on her dilapidating property. Koco was desperate to place as many dogs as possible with other rescues and fosters when someone Koco trusted recommended April Addison with SNAWL. This recommendation lead to the bypassing of policies and protocols to properly vet the organization for placement on June 1, 2023 along with the location being in Arizona where Koco felt she would be able to look into Marble's care closely when she returned from Mississippi, but it was near impossible for meetups to be arranged with April. Koco did not press the issue and Marbles did not survive the house of horrors. Police investigation turned up a lead at a vet clinic that said they had cremated Marbles at the request of April back in July of 2023. April had called him by the name, Duke. April told Srgt. Vasey that Marbles had died so she took him to be cremated at a vet clinic on July 12, 2023. No explanation as to how or why he died, but after she had received him on June 1, 2023 she ended up taking him to the vet on June 6, 2023 where you can hear that he may have been suffering from an upper respiratory infection and allegedly was prescribed meds. A paw print was cast of Marbles and Koco was able to recover that from the vet clinic.

Checo

Was originally supposed to go back to Yaqui Animal Rescue, but assistance was required and Handover Rover stepped up to take him in.

Jerry

Was originally shot and dumped in Texas which caused him to be paralyzed in his back legs. He was being fostered by Sarah Janelle Castaneda IG in Dallas, TX for just under a week before he was sent to SNAWL in Chandler, AZ in May of 2023. Once the animals were pulled from April's house of horrors in Sept of 2023 Jerry was placed with the AZ Humane Society. Sarah regained legal ownership of Jerry after the courts released some of the dogs at the conclusion of the first court hearing. Jerry was supposed to be transported back to Sarah in Texas but there was an issue with the level of aggression he was exhibiting which caused transport to fear for safety of being bitten. Sarah then chose to make the journey to Arizona herself to bring him home. Once arriving in AZ, she learned that his health was much worse than expected and made the difficult decision to have him placed with a local rescue called Handover Rover. She felt it was in Jerry's best interest to stay and get the medical attention and training that he desperately needed instead of subjecting him to the stress of a long drive back to Texas. Handover Rover has been following all the vet recommendations for care and treatment and work with him daily on his PT. They even raised funds and were able to obtain their very own water treadmill not only for him, but for other dogs their organization could now start to help. They post regularly on their page about him, so check it out to see how things are going!

Kiska

Originally came from a foster home in Alaska amidst the beginning of AZ Humane Society and Chandler PD involvement with the Hoarding and potential animal abuse case with April McLaughlin. April was still attempting to obtain more dogs even though she was instructed to clean the home, follow-up on all medical needs of the dogs and start getting the dogs fostered out or into a furever home. Kiska's foster was completely unaware of the situation they were sending her into until it was too late. Once Kiska was in the hands of April, she refused to give her back even when they said they had an actual adoptee in Alaska where weather conditions would be more ideal for her since she is a Husky. After being pulled from April's home by authorities and AHS in September of 2023, they were able to pair Kiska with a new foster, House of Misfit Dogs.

Tazzy(Strudel)

On Wednesday 01/10/2024, was taken to @southeastveterinaryneurology for a neuro check with Dr Sanil where they did an MRI of her brain and neck with the plan for a possible spinal tap if needed. The results of the MRI were shocking. Strudel’s MRI showed that she had very little brain tissue, and her brain cavity was full of fluid… severe hydrocephalus. Her cerebellum was nonexistent… cerebellum hyperplasia. Her thalamus was not properly formed and also she suffered secondary epilepsy from these brain conditions. These were congenital conditions that Strudel was born with. No surgery, amount of therapy, or love would help her feel better. Strudel was a baby that was locked in the dark, alone, with no way to communicate that she was suffering. The team at Lovey Loaves made the decision together to set her free. An immensely difficult decision because Cheri and Charlotte were very close to Strudel. However, Strudel was surrounded by people that love her here, but most importantly she KNEW she was loved.

This is why the MRI testing was so imperative. The testing allowed them to make educated decisions for Strudel’s care based on facts. They now knew that setting her free was the most compassionate and loving thing for her.

Strudel was the most special pup! She was so brave. After being rejected by her first rescue, she was sent to April where she was locked in a crate and not cared for. Her world was dark. She was blind and unable to see the horrific tragedy surrounding her. She could hear it, and became so scared of noises in the darkness.

Once she was removed from April’s care, she was safe at @azhumane, but it still wasn’t a home. Cheri flew to Phoenix to get her on October 23, 2023. THIS was the first day of her new life! It was love at first touch. Even though Strudel was young, she had been through so much. Cheri provided round the clock care every single day she was with Lovey Loaves. Strudel loved to be outside, running and playing. When she was done romping and prancing, she would stand on Cheri’s feet letting her know she was ready to go inside. Strudel hated being alone. She loved company and loved laying in the grass next to Cheri, but her favorite thing in the world was being held and snuggled. Strudel is missed greatly and is permanently stitched into our hearts and will remain there always.

Mako (RIP)

Was originally at New Hope Rescue before going to April at SNAWL. They received the heart breaking news that Mako did not survive long enough to be rescued. He had passed away in April's house of horrors and she had taken him to a Vet to be cremated in July 2023. It is rare for a vet to hold onto a body this long, but this vet had and they were able to confirm the identity of Mako through the microchip he had in him. The vet was kind enough to then cremate Mako and send his ashes back to his real family at New Hope Rescue.

Cindy(Chica)

Oaf Rescue got a call from Chandler Police Department regarding Cindy. They said Cindy(Chica) was taken to the vet in May for tumors and kennel cough and that she was taken back to the vet in June because she had an open wound on her chest maybe from one of the tumors, but after that, there's no record of her. She was not one of the dogs put down and she was not one of the dogs in the freezer, April is claiming that she's the only dog that got adopted but there's no records of her after June 2023.
She doesn't remember who "adopted " her or when.
I was also told she's the only dog not accounted for. Chandler PD knows where all the other dogs are or what happened to them and if they were cremated, but Cindy(Chica) is the only dog they can’t pin point what happened after her vet visit in June.
They said they have all her records, have gone through everything on her text messages, and there is nothing anywhere regarding Cindy(Chica) being with anybody or being adopted or where she could be.

Nancy

APRIL was hell bent on getting this sweet girl, because apparently neurological dogs were her "specialty". She offered a huge chunk of money for someone to go adopt her.
OAF didn't care about the money, as she knew NANCY was out of time and would be euthanized, so they picked her up for APRIL/10 aliases. OAF tried to get updates, videos, pictures, but to no avail.
When April was exposed for animal hoarding, neglect, abuse & fraud, Bellavita & OAF Rescue jumped in the car in LA and drove through the night to find answers about their missing dogs.
ALLEGEDLY no one knew where NANCY was...but as it turned out, a group of girls had "inside information" that NANCY was at AHS & alive, but not well. They felt like they were left out of the loop by AHS. Upon her release from them, Nancy was in need of hospitalization along with a lot of medical treatments and therapies. Jill from @bellavitarescue was honored to transport her back to her original rescue, OAF.

Zoey(Lefty)

Was originally at ODAAT when April submitted adoption paperwork for her in September 2019. After the thorough vetting process, it was deemed a good fit and the application was approved. They said that April looked really good on paper, that's just how good she was at obtaining dogs, she knew just what to say and highlight as features that would make her stand out against anyone else attempting to adopt the dogs she set her eyes on. In November 2019, April flew to Pennsylvania to pick up Lefty which April renamed as Zoey and took her back to Arizona. The original rescue was aware of the case, but had no idea that one of their dogs was involved until the final 13 were released to AHS and they scanned the microchip then contacted ODAAT to inform that they have the opportunity to take her back. This news was a devastating blow to them over at ODAAT. Waves of emotions overcame them and their worst fears of an adopted animal suffering at the hands of the adoptee was now a reality for them. They thoroughly vet everyone, but even that doesn't guarantee that the animals will live a good life. We send prayers and strength that they are able to forgive themselves because we forgive them. We understand.

Pumpkin(Charlie)

clydethesuperhusky_truth found out about Pumpkin(Charlie) the day he was enroute to April. They immediately called the Riverside Shelter he was removed from and told them he was going to a dangerous situation and that they needed to stop the transport. They told them it wasn't their business and to butt out. They tried to see if maybe there was a public list of partner rescues that they could call to try to find which one pulled him and was transporting him and they were told that was private information. They actually sent someone to April's house in an effort to somehow prevent Charlie(Pumpkin) from going inside. They were dismayed to learn he had arrived right before they got there. After being rescued from the House of Horrors and released from AHS, Bellavita Rescue transported him to all_paws_k9_rescue in Los Angeles where they paired him with foster OKWhatsLeft they worked it out to get him adopted to buggys_warriors on 10/27/2023. She was an original adoption applicant for Pumpkin(Charlie) prior to him going to April, but was rejected due to a rescue pulling him to transport him to SNAWL. Aura

Was sitting in a crate for 5 months in the house of horrors. Where she most likely was trying to get out! When she first was rescued from Modesto, CA she had a full tail… now it has been cut in half. After being released, Aura had her spay surgery and dental work done because her mouth was in very bad shape due to her teeth being ground down and decaying. Many of her teeth were removed and the vet was also able to clean some of her really bad teeth. She is currently in foster care and enjoying life in a normal home setting.

Roo

Was an intake at the Stanislaus Animal Shelter in Modesto, CA. Since Roo was special needs due to her paralyzed back legs, this made it so she was not adoptable and needed to find a rescue to take her in. Pack Lyfe Rescue did not have a foster at the time and that's when the house of horrors, SNAWL took her in. She was transported from Modesto to Arizona. There she was posted a few times then disappeared. Since Roo didn't have a back up rescue or anywhere to go when she was released Pack Lyfe Rescue stepped up to take her in. Roo was about 3.5 months old when she was taken in by April In August of 2023. April only had her for a month until the Chandler55 were rescued. April filed an appeal to keep Roo, claiming her as a family dog. Roo spent over 3 months in the AZ humane society waiting for a final decision on her future. Roo was finally released on 01/08/2024 at about 8 months old. She is currently with a short term foster and needing a long term foster arranged.

Still missing, she was not included with the 55 dogs pulled by AHS. Paw Estate Rescue had rescued Reina in May of 2023 and in June of 2023 she was transferred to SNAWL in Chandler, AZ. They chose to send her there because 3 other reputable rescue organizations recommended SNAWL. Reina was paralyzed in her back legs and required a wheelchair so it was said that April would be able to accommodate all of Reina's needs. As soon as Paw Estate Rescue learned that AHS did not have Reina, they turned to social media and offered a reward for the safe return of Reina, no questions asked. Timbo(Clover)

Timbo, officially renamed to Clover is a 1 year old terrier male. (Neutered, of course.) Clover arrived with his little tootsies scarred and sore from April's house. The good news is, they’re fuzzy and back to normal and he’s getting a little better about his nails being done. Clover is in a wheelchair due to an old spinal injury that has since healed - and while he is able to stand occasionally, he does best in his chair or a drag bag! Clover is cat, dog, and kid friendly. His favorite thing to do is play and explore the trails. This little guy is no couch potato. He’s extremely affectionate and also has a hidden talent of popping wheelies for treats. He’s a seriously fun little guy that does not let his disability stop him from living his absolute best life.

Andy

Andy was hit by a car and April started a fundraiser in March of 2023 to get him surgery for the fractured bones he received from that accident. We learned from the vet x-rays and exam after Andy was pulled from April's House of Horrors and then released from AHS that the fractures in his back leg (that April had raised funds to repair) was actually a completely broken femur that was never surgically repaired. Because she chose not to have the few simple surgeries done back then, his bones have heeled completely wrong and will require brutal and invasive surgeries to correct, all because of the medical negligence of April.

Wally(Buttercup)

Wally was checked out by SNARL's vet team. They had to treat his valley fever and are hopeful that they caught it early. He also had multiple significant drag and urine scald wounds. They planned to continue on his current medication for a month, and re-test his valley fever levels at that time.

The best case scenario is that he eventually tests negative. Some dogs never do, and are on treatment for life.

Wally was also severely underweight and malnourished (BCS 2/9) and they will be chunking him up over the next several weeks while he regains his strength. He is very happy about all of the extra treats!

They also got some great news that his spinal fracture does not need surgical intervention. The fracture is completely calcified, and going in to plate it would likely cause more harm than good at this point. The team is happy with him being a long term wheelie. Now that it's known that his spine is stable, they can start rehab.

*Update, Wally(Buttercup) has been adopted!

Riley(Meiko)

April initially petitioned to have 47 of the live dogs returned to her. This left a handful of dogs uncontested, and able to be released to rescue once assessment evidence was collected. Riley is one of those dogs despite having been with April since 2015.

SNARL signed the official paperwork from the Arizona Humane Society for Riley to be released to them as soon as possible. Their transport team was on the road to Arizona and anxious to get her into their custody. She will be receiving a new name, as a way to signify her new beginning.

They are aware that she has multiple medical concerns (abnormalities on bloodwork, history of a spinal injury -suspected hit by car, left hip abnormal on xray, etc). She has also never been spayed. She will be seeing their vets immediately on the Friday after release from AHS.

Scooter/Peewee(Davy)

Scooter/Peewee(Davy) had a severely fractured femur and broken pelvis that he ‘learned’ to run on coming out of April's home. There is no callus forming and his medical report indicated that it is “less than a year old”. The bone is nearly poking out of his skin and is clearly visible from the outside.

Can you imagine walking on a snapped femur for months?

Scooter/Peewee(Davy) was booked in for an urgent amputation surgery first thing the Monday morning after release from AHS with the vetting team. He’ll receive rehab thereafter as he learns to navigate life on three legs, without a painfully splintered limb holding him back.

Farley is disabled and requires the assistance of a wheelchair to get around and protect his legs, but April denied him the use of a wheelchair while in her care. He came out of April's home and AHS pooping out a lot of blood, he had a lot of open wounds on the bends of his legs and his whole bum that will take a long time to heal, there were also concerns that he could have Addison's Disease, but recent test results point to IBD, requiring him to be put on a hydrolyzed diet.

Lived in the house of horrors since 2019, after being rescued and then released from the AZ Humane Society back to the Animal Pad, she found refuge in foster care and has her own IG account! Check her out on @different_delilah

Maddy(Addie)

Renamed by The Animal Pad to Addie, she originally came from this rescue before arriving at April's home. She was returned back to them after Maddy(Addie) was released on 01/16/2024 from AHS.

Patches/Roberta (Remi)

Originally came from Mexico after being hit by a car that caused her to become paralyzed in her back legs. The woman that saved her worked hard to find her a rescue that could take her in the United States. The rescue that came forward to take her happened to be SNAWL. Soon after this, (Remi) was transported to April's house of horrors. She survived the abuse long enough to be saved, but the experience cost her dearly. She needed a bilateral rear limb amputation and a tail amputation. Did any of this stop her from being so sweet and full of life? Of course not! She had made a good recovery after the surgeries and loves cruising around & chasing her pup friends in her newest set of wheels.

Peaches

Unknown Backstory.

*Update, Peaches has been adopted!

Pippy(Estrellita)

Pippy(Estrellita) was found paralyzed, dragging herself, desperately searching for food when the wonderful @dogsofpuertoangel in Chacalapa, a small community outside Pochutla, Mexico took her in hoping for a special needs rescue. Unfortunately, fraudulent SNAWL, led by April McLaughlin in Chandler, Arizona, extended her nightmare when she adopted Lita. She endured abuse, neglect, was found dragging herself through 115-degree weather in April's filth-ridden backyard along with 54 or so other dogs. Being a special needs dog, Estrellita did not receive the proper medical care to help her recover and suffered from a UTI, urine scalding, Giardia, tapeworms, hookworms, dehydration, fleas, ticks and fungal parasites like many of the other dogs. Rescues all over the US were fighting to get their dogs back. Many dogs did not have a committed rescue in the United States, and The Animal Pad showed how compassionate and dedicated they are by stepping in to take numerous dogs under their wing. Estrellita was one of them and has been in foster care with @diaajoo since. Thanks to The Animal Pad, Lita is receiving all the medical care and is on her way to recovery. Due to her injury being old, doctor did not recommend surgery, so The Animal Pad fully supported her physical therapy, acupuncture, Laser Therapy, together with anything else the rehab clinic recommended. Estrellita is unfortunately incontinent, but she is an extremely smart dog, and with a daily routine and exercise, her accidents are very minimal. Recent days, Lita is making so much progress with her recovery. She is independently mobile with the ability to not just walk, but run and is passing health checks with flying colors!

Skyler

01/16/2024, Skyler is being transported by The Animal Pad back to her original rescue, @joshandhiscritters. She was born with a front limb deformity which makes it so she has no use of her front legs. April obtained Skyler from Josh and His Critters back in 2022.

*Update 01/18/2024, Skyler is going to remain with The Animal Pad!

Susie Q(Rosie)

Was born with a cleft palate and since being rescued from April at SNAWL, she was released back to the Animal Pad from AHS. She is thriving and loving life with her foster mom @misscarlybobo.

Xander

Has Addison's Disease and during the time he spent at SNAWL with April, she did not properly treat him for his condition. He went straight into the ER after being pulled from her home and it took over 4 months of medical management by the AHS to get him back to being healthy. Xander was originally pulled from a park in Texas back in 2017 by April herself and brought back to AZ. He was released to The Animal Pad on the 01/16/2024.

Rudy(Rodolfo)

Originally came from Mexico and was fostered by Catherine through 2h4p Foundation before being sent to SNAWL in Chandler, AZ in Nov. of 2022. After his release to the AZ Humane Society, it was determined that his injuries were too severe and the only merciful thing to do was to let him go. He could not be saved.

Chester

Originally came from Mexico and was at 2h4pFoundation before being sent to SNAWL in Chandler, AZ in Nov, of 2022. After release from the AZ Humane society he went back to his original rescue. Chester is now being fostered by Catherine Sermeno IG. *Update, Chester has been adopted by his foster mom!

Lulu

Originally was at a shelter in Riverside, California on the Euthanasia list to create more room for other dogs before she was pulled by another rescue. She ended up getting sent to April at SNAWL soon after. Once Lulu was removed from the home by the AZ Humane society and allowed to be released, Lulu went back with her original rescue. She is now being fostered by fosterpawzz

*Update, Lulu has been adopted!

Bailey

*Update, Bailey Is now being fostered by justkto in La, California

*Update, Bailey has been adopted by his foster mom!

Squiggy

Squiggy is a Belgian Tervuren, he is a tripod and was one of the remaining 13 dogs that have been in custody since September 22, 2023. He was released on 01/11/2024 to Joshthedoodle & BeLikeJosh Foundation for decompressing here locally and then they are transporting him to Cali in a few days. Squiggy is going to Los Angeles to be with The Animal Rescue Mission.

Hope(Sandy)

Was originally found bleeding under a tree after being hit by a car. The lady who found her posted her on FB. A networker then referred this lady to April in Arizona. Hope(Sandy) was then put on transport and sent to the terrible House of Horrors. After she was rescued from that home in September 2023, no one came forward to claim her so The Pawerful Rescue stepped up to take her in.

Xena(Miley)

From what we suspect, she was hit by car… Brought into the San Antonia Animal Shelter.
Then into a foster home. Then moved to a second foster home before being transported to the #HouseOfHorrors in AZ. She survived there for 7 months before being confiscated from that awful place as evidence in the case against April. She spent a few weeks at the AZ Humane Society before being put back on transport to Dallas to be with The Pawerful Rescue team.

😅😅 that’s a lot in less than a year!

This little girl has gone to hell and back, quite literally. And definitely missed out on proper socialization. She has some triggers that they are navigating through and learning about every single day.

BUT…overall a happy little pup.

Their primary vet wants to see what they can do with PT and try to rehab her right leg before visiting surgical options. She currently uses it as a kickstand and WILL NOT allow them to put a booty on it.

Steph was on Patreon showing everyone how Miley reacted to touch at the time. That’s the reason for the hand movement.

We don’t know what Miley went through while with that monster but she doesn’t display any indicators that she was physically abused. She was without a doubt forgotten about or locked in a room though.

They do a temperament evaluation with all of the dogs they take in. As well as a dog intro. Miley flunked both pretty badly. Recourse guarding. Over correcting humans. No idea what to do with human touch. With dogs it was a mess. To the point they couldn’t even have Bucky their temperament tester out with her.

The past few months they have worked daily with her to help her basically learn how to be a dog. Putting her in controlled situations where she can succeed. Associating praise “human touch” with activities she enjoys and using items like toys as rewards for basic obedience work.

Today we are happy to report she aced part of temperament evaluation.❤️

Next up is pairing her up with the dogs in the house who correct well and helping her understand manners. Excited for the future that’s in front of this sweet girl.

Lucy(Naya)

We don't know much about her back story, but The Perfect Animal Rescue was kind enough to take her in when no one else was able to after her release from AHS. She is being fostered by scootn_and_tootn in the Bay Area, CA. She has had unexplained issues with her mobility in her hind quarters and they are working with a neurologist and getting light therapy. She's seeing a chiropractor and getting acupuncture. *Update, Lucy(Naya) has been adopted!

Chloe

Was born with deformed front paws, dumped at an LA county shelter, then adopted by a monster in June of 2021 and lived in the house of horrors for years before she was finally seized and removed from that horrible place. But, her freedom was still just out of reach as she was then forced to sit in the humane society for months as we awaited the appeals process to conclude. Chloe is now FINALLY FREEEEEE!!!!! The Perfect Dog Rescue was proud to take her in since she did not have anywhere to return to on 01/09/2024.

Butters

Is the dog that Becca Isabel IG from Yaqui Animal Rescue could not and would not give up on. She was determined to get him back from April at SNAWL. Her perseverance a determination is what ultimately brought enough exposure to the conditions at April's home and abuse/neglect the animals had to endure that authorities could no longer turn a blind eye. She rallied the locals and networked with all the rescues that had sent dogs to April and they put the pressure on the city & state officials, AZ Humane Society and Chandler PD to evoke action. The collective outrage of the community helped save 55 dogs from the home as well as getting most of them released back to their previous rescues and owners. Butters was able to return to Texas with Becca and is living the life he was always meant to. We all owe her a great amount of gratitude for doing what most would not or could not do.

Checo

Was supposed to return here, but assistance was required and Handover Rover stepped up to take him in.

Chauncey (RIP, Euthanized by AZ Humane after being pulled from April's)

Rudy(Rodolfo) (RIP, Euthanized by AZ Humane after being pulled from April's)

Rex(Rexi Roo) (RIP, Euthanized by April's vet. April adopted him under false pretenses and euthanized him even though he was presumably healthy. Rex originally came from Mexico, born without front legs. April had adopted him from their LA rescue, deityanimalrescue. In February of 2018, April continued to send updates to the rescue saying he was doing great. When they checked on him again in September 2018, she responded with a “it’s been a rough week, I’m hiring a lawyer” and promptly blocked their number. A police report and bodycam footage of the “welfare check” done at her property on October 12th, 2019 showed the cop standing in April’s doorway and you can hear April yelling at a crated Rex to be quiet. Unfortunately the cop did not do a thorough welfare check (never moving past the front doorway) and documented that April had a crated dog named “Max”. Since April refused to talk to the rescue, they were forced to call the cops on her to get more info about his status. When the cop visited her residence on Dec 4th, 2019 she was very uncooperative and almost belligerent. She took several minutes to come outside and tried to stall, lie, and give misinformation to the cop before finally admitting she had him euthanized on October 29th, 2019 at VCA University Animal Hospital in Tempe, Arizona. The rescue was able to obtain the euthanasia report but it was very suspicious, had no notes on the dog, why he was there, his condition, etc. The vet has refused to cooperate further.)

Marley (RIP, a yellow lab who was quadriplegic with Neospora was adopted by April in August of 2019. He only spent a month with April when his original rescue drove in from Texas to do a well-check on him and the condition he was already in was alarming. He suffered urine stains and burns, bed sores, UTIs, ear infection, muscle atrophy on the side of his face, no longer being able to sit up, behavioral issues such as aggression towards all humans, etc. His original rescue, muttlovin worked to successfully remove him from April's care in 2019, but he soon passed away in January of 2020.)

Dallas (RIP)

Victory (RIP, Euthanized by AZ Humane after being pulled from April's)

Mako (RIP, passed away in April's home and was taken to her vet to be cremated.)

Eisa & Astrid (RIP, Eisa and Astrid are siblings that were adopted by April in October of 2018 and in less than a month, their original fosters learned that April was not taking proper care of them. They fought hard to get them back from her. Eventually April used their unwavering determination against them and chose to exact money from them in order to get the dogs back. April had them pay $400 in cash, claiming it was reimbursement for vet bills. It was later discovered that April's friend had paid that vet bill since April didn’t have enough money for it. April also kept $2500+ of supplies that their foster family sent with the dogs initially, including the wheelchairs they needed in order to walk. They were rescued from April in November 2018. They went back to live with their loving foster family. They had lost their ability to get around on their own and were now terrified of water and metal dog bowls. In May 2019 the girl's health had declined and they no longer had quality of life. A consult was done with their veterinarian and neurologist, and in their professional opinion it was time to let the girls go. Letting them go was not an easy decision for their fosters. Their last day was spent with the fosters at the park eating chicken, fresh strawberries, and cupcakes with pink frosting. The veterinarian went to their home for the procedure. Eisa and Astrid passed peacefully in their mom and dads arms on May 31, 2019.)

Ruby (RIP, Euthanized by AZ Humane after being pulled from April's)

Paloma(Sunny) (RIP,Euthanized by AZ Humane after being pulled from April's)

Sydney (RIP, April’s dog who died at ONE year old that she got as a 9 week old puppy the same time as Abby. April told various rescues that she died of valley fever and pneumonia on Nov 21st, 2017. Just a month before she got Xander and two months before she got Rexi Roo. Valley fever is a fungal infection that requires a lengthy antifungal treatment and does cost money to treat but is generally treatable as long as diagnosis and intervention is taken place and severe lung damage has not already happened.)

Bailey_Husky (RIP)

Kirby(Kerby) (RIP, he was a puppy with spinal issues and couldn't walk. April adopted him on 11/14/2019 from a rescue in Pueblo, CO. April claimed Kirby was adopted in December to a veterinarian, but was later discovered to still be in the home with April.)

Angel (RIP)

Chuck (RIP)

Marbles (RIP, cremated by April's vet, unknown cause of death. Before this happened, April was telling anyone that inquired about Marbles that he had been adopted out to a couple who had experience with blind dogs. Again, no adoptions events held or advertised and no documentation of the supposed adoption. We didn't learn until After her arrests near the end of 2023 what really happened to Marbles.)

Reina/Phoebe

Cindy/Chica (April Claims was adopted out to someone but there is no record of this adoption)

Baxter

Riley (When police did a welfare check at her property on Oct 12th, 2019, they stated that there was a Riley present on her property. Riley is a 100+ lb lab/rottie mix. At this time she was claiming she only had 5 dogs. We learned that April had adopted Riley in 2015, but after the welfare check, Riley's whereabouts became a mystery)

Abbey(Abby) (She was a 9 week old shepherd mix puppy born blind and with a cleft lip that April got in February 2017 the same time as another 9 week old shepherd/husky mix puppy named Sydney. She posted about her for several months and then the pup disappeared. Where did she go? What did April do with her and why did she vanish?)

Isabelle (April had acquired her from OliversOrphanOasis in New York.  Clydethesuperhusky_Truth learned about Isabelle back in 2019 and informed the rescue of the truth about April so they could attempt to get Isabelle back. When the rescue reached out to April, she did a video chat with them and her vet claimed that Isabelle was perfectly healthy and well taken care of. The rescue did not push further once April informed them that she had adopted Isabelle out. There is no record of this adoption and very well could be a cover story like she did with multiple dogs who's original rescues came around questioning. Just a statement to hush them up and to get them to stop inquiring whilst she continues to keep the animal or euthanize them.)

Hope (April adopted Hope in September 2019, a 4 month old puppy with very severe mobility and neurological issues from India. She adopted her promising full medical care, rehabilitation, and financial responsibility but when Hope arrived in the US... April never came to the airport forcing the flight volunteer to foster her for a couple days before April asked her to check Hope into a boarding facility instead of driving 5.5 hours to go pick her up. She found someone else to transport the dog to her and when the rescue asked her to pay for Hope’s international travel fees as originally agreed upon ($700+) dollars, April went low/no contact with her rescuer and the rescue that helped transport the dog. Despite having collected several hundred dollars through a GoFundMe she set up asking to raise money for her transport. She also used her Special Pawz rescue page to ask for donations of supplies. April had Hope for almost 6 weeks before her rescue was able to get her out. In that time, she never even saw a vet, let alone a specialist. When she was rescued, her muscles were significantly atrophied and she was no longer able to lay down straight and would plop to her side. She had sizeable urine stains on her back legs and a horrible UTI along with poop full of roundworms. She has been placed with a new rescue that was able to do an MRI on her which showed that her brain was normal and that she does not have CH like Clyde, which is something she claimed Hope was diagnosed with even though April never took her to a vet. When Hope’s rescue repossessed her, they sent a representative from their side to take the dog back since April went low/no contact when they asked her to pay Hope’s international travel expenses. When the rescue took Hope, April filed a police report claiming they stole the dog. The police called the rescue at which point they realized the dog was microchipped and legal property of the rescue and told April they couldn’t help further. Yet on Nov 12th, approximately 3 days after Hope was rescued April cryptically posted pictures in her stories claiming there was a warrant out for an arrest. When people DM’d her asking for details she made up grand lies about how the rescue was asking for ransom money and stole her “back” so they could collect on donations.)

Drew (When Drew was rescued from a Texas shelter, she was in dire condition. She was heavily pregnant and was placed in a kennel with other dogs who brutally attacked her, ripping her hind legs to shreds. As soon as she was rescued, she gave birth to puppies, some who died soon after. Through her rescue, she was able to finish nursing her remaining pups and received medical care to fix what they could of her back legs. She was transferred to a partner rescue in Denver who did additional procedures to help fix her legs.

It was there that April spotted Drew and fell in “love” with her story. She applied to adopt her stating she had ONE dog with similar needs, Nico. She flew out to Denver and legally adopted her and told the rescue she had drove back to Chandler with her. But the truth was she never brought Drew back to Arizona. Instead she used her rescue @specialpawzrescue to ask for a foster, fronting the dog as a “rescue”, while she figured out a way to get Drew back to Arizona for free. A nice couple offered to foster her and quickly fell in love and asked to adopt her. April said no, Drew had to come back to Arizona to live with her even though she had just adopted Marley and was getting Hope soon as well. Alarm bells were raised, investigations were done, and soon the truth came out and the rescue voided the adoption. Drew has since been adopted by her loving fosters who spoil her and treat her like a princess @scoot_scoot_drew❤️ She had a lot of hardships in her young short life but fortunately was able to escape being another special needs collectors item for April.)
